If you’re anything like me, Halloween has been on your mind for a while now and you’ve been hoping to find some new ways to celebrate the spookiest time of year! Well let your fear of missing out subside – we’ve put together a list of events coming up this month for kids, families, and adults to enjoy!

Kids and Families

Spooky in the Park: Hocus Pocus & The Sanderson Sisters Live in Wilcox Park
Friday, October 19th, 5pm – 8pm – Free
The United Theatre and Westerly Library & Wilcox Park invite you to join us for Spooky in the Park, a free, family-friendly evening featuring the Sanderson Sisters (courtesy of Simply Enchanted) live in Wilcox Park followed by a screening of Hocus Pocus. The night will start off with Halloween crafts, and the Sanderson Sisters will perform live and be around for photos from 5:30-6:30pm. After 6pm, there will be a kids costume parade around the park and the Sanderson Sisters will award the winners of the costume contest. Then, curl up on your chairs and blankets as the movie begins at sundown (roughly 6:30pm). Wakin’ Up Waggin’ will be on-hand with fall treats including cider, hot cocoa, coffee and more to keep you warm! In the case of rain, the event may be moved to The United Theatre (5 Canal St.) and will have limited seating on a first come, first serve basis.

Halloween Afternoon of Music and Fun with the Westminster Youth String Ensemble
Sunday, October 28th, 1pm – Free

Join the WYSE for their 18th Annual Halloween Afternoon of Music & Fun at the Westerly Armory Sunday, October 28th, 2018. The concert will feature Fiddle ‘N Fun, dancers from Michelle’s L’Ecole De Danse and performances by the World Famous Big Nazo Puppet Creatures. Wear a costume! Mask Making begins at 1:00pm, with a concert at 2:00pm.

Annual Spooktacular Halloween Party at Mel’s Downtown Creamery
Sunday, October 28th, 1pm-5pm

Mel’s Downtown Creamery will be offering a Halloween themed craft, Bingo complete with prizes, tic tac toe, and of course plenty of ice cream for kids and families! Costumes are encouraged, and a treat will be given out to each child.

Kid’s Spooky Hike at Wahaneeta Preserve
Sunday, October 28th, 6pm – Free

Hosted by The Westerly Land Trust
Join the Westerly Land Trust for a Spooky Hike at Wahaneeta Preserve! Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. There will be a short hike within the preserve followed by a bonfire with s’mores and spooky story telling. Kids Halloween Party at the Westerly Library
Wednesday, October 31st, 4pm-6pm

Join the Library for their 5th Annual Kids Halloween Party, outside on the Esplanade (to the right of the Library), for some carnival style fun for kids of all ages. Drop in anytime in between 4pm and 6pm for some games and temporary tattoo booth!

Flip Side Halloween Bash!
Saturday, October 27th, 7pm – 1am – No Cover

The folks at Flip Side LOVE Halloween and want everyone to come on down and participate in their costume contest. The categories are Best Pinball Theme, Best Group/Couple, and Best Overall. Dress up, drink, play some pinball!

Halloween Bash at Cleats Sports Club!
Saturday, October 27th, 9:30pm-12:45am – No Cover

Boasting “the biggest Halloween bash of the season,” Cleats will be hosting a spooky party with no cover! Dress to impress because there will be cash prizes for the Scariest, Sexiest, & Most Original Costumes!

Halloween Weekend Burial Ground Paranormal Investigation

Ever dreamed of spending an evening near All Hallow’s Eve in a haunted cemetery on the quest to find spirits? This is your unique opportunity to join a graveyard paranormal investigation – it’s Seaside Shadows’ annual Halloween ghost hunt at Whitehall Burial Ground in Mystic, CT. Utilizing EVP (audio recorders and spirit boxes), powerful crystals, swinging pendulums, EMF detectors and mediums, you have the unique opportunity to communicate with spirits in the cemetery. The evening will start with the Seaside Shadows Haunted History Tour of the graveyard and continue for nearly two hours in an investigation. “We’d say we are the hosts but in truth it’s the ghosts – join us and them for a spiritual and haunting Halloween weekend!”

Eight to the Bar: Halloween Party at The Knickerbocker Cafe!
Wednesday, October 31st, 7:45 PM – 10:45 PM (Doors open at 6:45pm)

$12 admission
Compete in a Costume Contest at the Knick while enjoying swing, boogie woogie, rhythm & blues, soul, and Motown. First Prize wins Four Knickerbocker Show tickets (good for up to $100). Second Prize wins two Knickerbocker Show tickets (good for up to $50).
