Once visited by the popular television show, 40 Dollars a Day with Rachel Ray, Mystic’s Sea Swirl offers up more than just amazing seafood.  We stopped in for ice cream, which we heard was some of the best around.  With terrific ambiance of a time gone by, Sea Swirl is a tiny road side building with plenty of outdoor seating.  We opted for hard packed ice cream, although there were numerous soft serve flavors.  The cones came double scooped with two flavors (we tried the caramel sea salt & the Oreo) and rainbow sprinkles.  One step ahead of us (we were traveling with kids), the server even provided a dish and spoon should one need it…which we did.  The ice cream was creamy and flavorful without being too sweet.  We can’t wait to stop back in and try out the seafood.  Sea Swirl is located at the junction of routes 1 & 27 at 30 Williams Avenue in Mystic, CT.  They are open 11-9 through Labor Day, Sea Swirl’s hours change to weekends only in September, so be sure to check their hours page before you visit.
