If you need one more reason to head over to The Velvet Mill in Stonington, make it be simply to stop in at Zest Fresh Pastry. Located to the left when you enter the building, Zest is a lovely little spot big on delicious baked goods. We also love their coffee. On our most recent visit we picked up a chocolate meringue and two festively sprinkled cake pops. We love meringues because they melt in your mouth and provide that little bit of sweetness without being heavy. These had a subtle chocolate flavor and also had that delicious outer crunch with a soft melt in your mouth center. The cake pops were colorful and fun and super yummy inside. They are also really fun to make, but we will save that for another post. Open from 8:30-4:00 Wednesday & Thursday, 8:30-5:00 Friday, 9:00-5:00 Saturday and 9:00-4:00 Sunday, you don’t have to save your trip for Farmers Market days but can stop during the week as well. Zest also offers savory selections and holiday menus as well as wedding cakes.
