This week we stopped in at Sandy’s Fine Food Emporium for lunch to go. Offering a large selection of pre-made items as well as sandwiches and salads, Sandy’s is one of our favorites. Another wonderful quality about Sandy’s is that you can pick up fresh produce or bread while you are there.
The sandwiches all have whimsical names which we love. The Stonington, a veggie wrap featuring mozzarella and roasted vegetables, was delicious and warm. Most impressive was that the wrap did not get at all soggy from the vegetables. The Matunuck, served on crusty bread, is an upgrade on the traditional ham and cheese simply by using rosemary ham. That subtle flavor made this sandwich taste incredible. The sandwiches are big enough to share. Splitting two between four people worked perfectly for us.
If you are looking for a warm meal you can also get pre-made soups to take home and heat up. Despite long lines, the service was quick and friendly. While you might think of Sandy’s as a bit of a splurge, we noticed that many of their prices are very comparable to local markets. Because it is so close to all the retail shops it is also quite convenient. Next time you are looking for lunch to give Sandy’s a try!
