Have you read about some burgers selling for over one hundred dollars? They might be free range Argentinian beef or could contain truffles sniffed out of the woods that very morning.  This week as part of our burger series we are glad to bring you some much more affordable options for a burger at the bar.  Do you have a favorite bar you love to frequent to grab a quick beer and a burger? We found two of our favorites with burger prices ranging from $6 to $24.

I come from Western Massachusetts where the iconic White Hut burger rules the local world.  It is simple, but perfect for that quick burger grab. A similar simplicity can be found right here in Westerly. Starting with our $6 favorite, we headed over to Voc’s Dunns Corners Pub where on Tuesdays you can sit at the bar and grab a burger at lunch as part of the pub specials.  This pub burger is simple and fantastic! The burger we ordered was cooked medium, just as requested.  It included cheese, lettuce, tomato and fries. We love the friendly atmosphere and feeling that you are part of the family when you walk in to Voc’s.  For six dollars this burger is a bargain.

By far, the most luxurious burger we found locally was at Weekapaug Inn.  Priced at $24, this burger is one half pound of Northeast Family Farms ground beef cooked to one quarter pound with Great Hill Blue Cheese, caramelized onions, roasted mushrooms on a brioche bun with pommes frites… All we can say is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Cooked to perfection, which for us was barely at all, this burger is a lunch and dinner combined.  As incredible as the burger itself is the stunning atmosphere in the Garden Room.  The small, intimate bar is located in a gorgeous room with a roaring fire (yes, even on these cold May days), Stickley furniture and game tables.  The views of the Quonochontaug Pond are beautiful.  The staff is attentive and relaxed.  Inside tip…go on a Wednesday for lunch.  It is quiet and, in our opinion, the very, very tail end of this off season is the time to do this.

While we only visited two spots this time around, we can’t wait to try out the burgers at B&B Dockside, which we hear are fantastic.  Where else should we go?  We’d love to hear from you!
